Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is a specific type of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) that helps patients learn how to modify and challenge unhelpful beliefs related to the trauma.
We spend a lot of time offering different angles of trauma related therapy, because of what we know about trauma being a common denominator in people’s past that are addicted to harmful behaviors and or substances. We have said it before and we will repeat it, our mission is to help our clients and that requires going above and beyond in our selection of therapies, especially therapy related to healing trauma.
Cognitive Processing Therapy is a specific type of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy that has been effective in reducing symptoms of PTSD that have developed after experiencing a variety of traumatic events including child abuse, combat, rape, natural disasters, domestic violence, neglect, abandonment, death, separation, and a whole flock of other events that the child internalized has trauma.
It is not our client’s fault, they are being pushed around internally, beaten up emotionally, and really have no idea why they are doing what they are doing. They get traumatized as a child, do not get the outlet to release that trauma, then grow up and repeat what they unknowingly know to themselves and to their family. Then their children grow up and do the same. Until the cycle is broken, and somebody reaches out for help.
These therapies are important to do as many different ones as possible, to be sure that there is no hidden residue left behind inside that may show up later on.
