Role Playing

In the context of addiction treatment, role-play exercises can be especially beneficial. At Deslongchamps Recovery this form of therapy is used in individual and family therapies. Role-playing allows clients to identify their own feelings surrounding a given situation while simultaneously learning how others may feel. It is very interesting.

Often, we do things and do not think of how it effects the ones around our actions. Role playing allows the family and each client to take responsibility for their actions. It is not a blame game or a reason to feel guilty. What is done is done, we cannot go back and change it, however by role playing it allows us the opportunity to see how we effect others around us. The result is that it makes everyone aware of the consequences of their actions, and the power of their words, therefore making it very hard to continue acting in hurtful ways.

Please do not be intimidated by these therapies, all of our staff have been there and done that, there is no judgement about how life has been for any of our clients. We have seen it all, and we completely understand.
